Daventry is a market town in Northamptonshire that expanded significantly through planned residential development from the 1960s onwards. The older part of town around the High Street, New Street and Sheaf Street contains Georgian and Victorian properties with narrower frontages and limited off-road parking. The pedestrianised zone near the town centre also affects how vehicles can approach for moves in this part of town. The newer residential areas including Stefen Hill, Monks Moor and the various post-war estates across the town have wider road layouts as a general rule, but cul-de-sac endings, shared turning areas, and speed tables on estate roads still affect vehicle choice for larger loads. Properties on the Borough Hill side of town and along the A361 corridor can also involve longer single-carriageway approach roads. The villages surrounding Daventry - Braunston, Badby, Staverton, Weedon and Welton among others - have the access characteristics typical of Northamptonshire rural properties: tight junctions near village centres, narrow lanes, and some homes reached via shared or unmade drives.
